Porlock Weir is a picturesque hamlet nestled at the foot of Exmoor. It is an absolutely beautiful spot where your little ones can go crabbing, paddle in the sea and collect shells. You can buy lines, bait and fishing nets in the harbour shop aswell as treat yourself to an ice cream!
Grownups will love it too. You’ll be able to wander around the lovely shops, admire the stunning scenery and find somewhere yummy for a family lunch. It is definitely one of the loveliest spots on the West Somerset coast.
Dogs are welcome on this pebble beach so it makes a fantastic location for a family day out.
Whilst in the area, if travelling along the A39 Porlock Hill look out for Whitstones Hill Viewpoint Car Park located at TA24 8QH. You should definitely make a pit stop and enjoy the breath-taking views across Exmoor. It is spectacular in late summer when the Heather is in full bloom as well as in the spring with the summer Bluebells. During summer you will also be able to buy a delicious ice cream here aswell!

Things You Can Do
What a brilliant place! It was the first time my kids had been crabbing and they spent hours putting their lines into the water, pulling up their crabs, counting them, and then putting them back again! Great fun.
