We’ve enjoyed our Glamping experiences in this country so much, that we are now seiously tempted to experience the glamping way in Europe.
Whether you opt for a luxiourous safari tent like we did at Longlands or Browscombe, or you like the look of a Cornish Titp Tent, the overall feel of these holidays is the same… simple family fun in beautiful surroundings.
There is an abundance of sites to choose from, & below we’ve picked some that we think look especially family friendly.
We love the look of this site a short distance from The Palace of Versailles. There is a large range of accommodation to choose from to make a perfect family stay including Cabanes, Cahutts, Roulottes and Wooden and Canvas tents (the names alone make us want to find out more).
Everything is included to make your stay hassle free, from beds & bedding to crockery and armchairs. The site has a play area and heated outdoor pool to entertain the little ones, as well as a horse riding centre nearby.
Plus, you could take a day trip to Paris…what’s not to love?
This small park is on the banks of the Dordogne River and sits at the bottom of a picturesque cliff top castle. Stay in luxury within the sites Safari tents (sleeping 6) with lots of on-site facilities including a heated outdoor pool, toddler pool, fishing, table tennis, badminton and volley ball.
With direct access to the river it is perfect for canoeing and boat trips. Explore the old stone Périgord village of Beynac-et-Cazenac & enjoy lots of other days out close by.
These look amazing – camping inside a dome (sleeping 6) in hand-picked campsites across South West France. The domes are fully equipped and luxurious with double beds, hanging beds for children and Fatboy bean bags for all to chill out on.
This company is very family-friendly and they have chosen the campsites with this in mind. They even have a toddler section on their website explaining how the domes are perfect for babies’ knees and bottoms! All in a beautiful area of France with lots of activities and places to visit close by.
How about a trip to Norway? We love the look of Glamtents, especially the site at Bogstad Camplng near Oslo. All tents are decked out with comfortable bedding and lanterns to create a cosy homely feel. It has a small lake with a nice beach offering a rich outdoor life in beautiful scenery, yet it is only a 15 minute drive from the bustling city of Oslo for fantastic shopping and culture. There are also lots of other sightseeing opportunities close by, including Bygdøy with the Viking ships!
How about a unique forest experience in Germany in an amazing tree house? Designed to enable you to get away from everything with no TV or Radio, giving you time to listen to the rustle of the trees, read a book and spend quality family time.
The tree houses hover 4ft above the ground and are spacious with suite style living. They can be inhabited all year round, so this could be a great option for a magical Autumn break.
In the heart of the Tuscan countryside Agriturismo Fattoria La Prugnola offers a choice of Yurts and a Treehouse as well as camping spots so you could even take your own tent. A choice of 5 Yurts or the Treehouse, providing plenty of opportnity for a magical experience without having to sacrifice on comfort.
Located in a beautiful area, close to the sea, with stunning scenery and beautiful areas to visit close by. Excursions can also be arranged to gorgeous cities in Tuscany – like Pisa, Siena and Florence.
How about an Airstream park only 30 minutes from Venice? Each airstream trailer has a double bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. Each pitch also has a bell tent, so that children can sleep outside, giving older children a little independence.
The site itself looks beautiful with pinewoods and great facilities including a golden sand beach, miniclub and baby dance. As well as Venice, which is close by, you could also visit Verona or The Dolomites.
We love the look of these well equipped tents in the Costa Brava, which are Ideal for a family with 2 -3 children. A small, friendly campsite with great facilities including a children’s renovated swimmimg pool for the little ones, a larger renovated pool, a Mediterranean restaurant and all 850 metres from one of the most beautiful beaches on Costa Brava.
For total traquility and superb views take a look at Cloud House Farm’s handcrafted Mongolian yurts. Each are on a secluded terrace in the Meditrranean forest with comfortable furnishings, double beds and children’s futons. Hiking, horse riding, river pools and two white-washed Spanish villages can be found close by.
A mixture of back to nature camping with the comfort of a hotel room on the Southwest coast of Alentejo. Choose from a Yurt, Safari Tent or Lodge Tent. Each has its own veranda with hammock and is furnished inside with comfortable bedding, a small kitchen and private bathroom. Enjoy the pool or arrange local activities including horse riding, cycling, surfing or fishing. Beautiful Altentejen beaches are close by.
For a good range of campsites across Europe offering Safari Tents at affordable prices do look at Vodatent. They may not be bespoke; glamorous tents that can make your own home feel inadequate like some glamping spots. But they do offer spacious Safari Tents for the whole family on a range of recommended campsite across Europe. We love the look of Confluent in Belgium. It looks perfect for older children with a large range of outdoor sports and activities. We also love the look of Centro Vacanze San Marino in Italy with a large outdoor pool, a petting zoo and amiptheatre with entertainment.
