Camp Bestival is the biggest and best fancy dress party that I have ever had the pleasure of attending :)
As Camp Bestival newbies we were open minded as to what we might find in the grounds of Lulworth Castle one super sunny weekend… simply put, it was craziness, fun, laughter, colour and magic all rolled into one beautiful Summer adventure - it was without doubt, one of our favourite weekends of 2015.
There was silliness in abundance, excitement everywhere you looked, smiley faces, dancing bodies, decked out trollies, and still, somehow, the space to find a patch of grass to sit back and take it all in.
I think it must have been obvious that we were newbies… for one, we were not wearing fancy dress (foolish), and two, we did not have a pimped out trolley kitted out with cushions, snacks, drinks, sleeping children and fairy lights.
It didn't matter a jot though as it really did feel like we were at some sort out brilliantly outlandish family reunion with more than its fair share of favourite crazy uncles who always take their shirts off in the middle of the dancefloor :)
I know that we missed things, things that maybe had we planned better we would have all enjoyed, but we literally stumbled across so much fun anyway that we didn’t feel under any pressure to make sure that we got to anywhere in particular by a set time.
In just two short days Isabella enjoyed all of the following…
From this you could easily assume that we spent our entire time traipsing after an excitable 4 year old... and you would be right!
She was a whirlwind of happiness bouncing from one magical moment to the next.
I was as intrigued as Bella to explore at will, and Roy ( who was not the designated driver that weekend) was just as happy at every pit stop as he had a beer in hand :)
It may be that my memories of Camp Besitval are embedded in a haze of wonderfulness because the day before we set off I found out that I was pregnant with baby number two :)
So, in fairness, the chances of anything ruffling my feathers that weekend were pretty slim anyway.
But, considering, we went to Camp Bestival with not really any expectations at all, we left with an absolute truck load full of lovely memories.
We spent two sun drenched days surrounded by happy adults, excitable children, wild & wonderful sights, good music and yummy food.
This, for us at least, will now hopefully become a regular part of our family summer fun every year.
